Board of Directors
Dr. Ombach has served as Chairman of our Board since April 2022. Dr. Ombach is a seasoned international senior executive with 25+ years of experience in technology, power systems, strategy and innovation. As the Chairman of our Board, he brings a range of expertise that he earned as Senior Vice President and Head of Disruptive Research and Technology for Airbus where he is responsible for global research, development and innovation. Prior to joining Airbus in April of 2022, Greg was also the former Executive Vice President for Draexlmaier Group (revenue EUR 5 billion, 75,000 employees) where he was head of strategy, innovation and business unit battery systems from June 2020 through April 2022. He was also a Vice President and General Manager for Qualcomm from April 2012 through July of 2019 where he was focused on the technology licensing business. Dr. Ombach earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Silesian University of Technology in Poland and a Certificate in Global Management from INSEAD, The Business School for the World.
Mr. Nicholson has served as a member of our Board since May 2024. Mr. Nicholson began his career as an engineer at Shell Canada Ltd. and went on to serve as President, Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of several multinational companies. Prior to his retirement, he acted as President of Pan Pacific Aggregates plc from January 2005 to August 2008. Mr. Nicholson was responsible for executing major projects in the LNG, power generation, mining, nuclear, natural gas production, and pipeline construction industries. Prior to his retirement, he was a member of the Registered Professional Engineers of the Province of British Columbia, a Member of Prospector and Developers Association of Canada, of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and the Institute of Corporate Directors of Canada. Mr. Nicholson earned a B.A. Sc., in Electrical Engineering at the University of British Columbia and a DIC in Automatic Control Systems at the Imperial College in London, England.
Mr. Meekison has served as a member of our Board since April 2021. Mr. Meekison has more than 28 years of extensive experience as a Chief Financial Officer and investment banker having worked with a range of public and private sector organizations. During the past 12 years, John has acted as a career Chief Financial Officer and holds multiple designations including his Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Investment Manager, Professional Logistician, is a certified member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, and holds a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology from the University of British Columbia. Mr. Meekison is currently acting as the Chief Corporate Development Officer (formerly Chief Financial Officer) of Exro Technologies Inc. (TSX: EXRO; OTCQB: EXROF), is a director of Agriforce Growing Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: AGRI) and is a director of Telo Genomics Corp. (TSXV: TELO; OTCQB: TDSGF). John has served Exro since October of 2017 and since April 2024 is Exro’s Chief Corporate Development Officer.
Mr. Chong has served as a member of our Board since December 2021. Mr. Chong is a business entrepreneur with more than 35 years of international business experience in various industries, including financial investment, property development, manufacturing, clean energy, internet, life science and food industry. He spent the first 10 years of his career in the banking industry in both Hong Kong and Toronto with responsibilities in project finance, corporate finance, trade finance, mergers and acquisitions and investment banking. Mr. Chong earned a Bachelor of Business Administration at Concordia University.
Mr. Chong has been the President and Director of KNP Group Inc. since December 1998. KNP is a private investment company that holds interests in various companies in Canada and USA including Silver Spider Knitting Ltd. and KNP Headwear Inc. both in Canada and New Path International Holdings Inc.in USA. He has also served as CEO and Director of Mega View Digital Entertainment Corp. (TSXV: MVD.H) since April 2017 and as CFO and Director of Richmond Minerals Inc. (TSXV:RMD) since October 2023.
Dr. Yuan served as our Chief Executive Officer from March 2021 to July 19, 2023 and was reappointed Chief Executive Officer on April 29, 2024. He has been a director since January 2017. Dr. Yuan (affectionately known as “YY”) will continue to bring successful relationships with various governments and non-government organizations (“NGO’s”) which has resulted in more than $10 million in non-dilutive grants. Educated in Geological Sciences for his B.Sc. in China and Geological Engineering for his Ph.D. in USA, he brings more than 35 years of experience in the field of geological sciences, as well as engineering in academics, research, and the upstream oil and gas industry to his role at the Company. Passionate about making positive change in the world, Dr. Yuan has deep expertise in technology development and commercialization. He provides a rare blend of scientific knowledge, industry insight, creativity and business acumen to his leadership role – and is always ready to support, encourage and mentor the more junior team members. Prior to AdvEn, Dr. Yuan founded BitCan Geosciences & Engineering Inc. and has grown it into a world-renowned, independent, integrated technology and service company that specializes in geomechanics.
From January 2000 to present, Dr. Yuan has been the owner and principal shareholder of BitCan Geosciences & Engineering Inc., providing technology development and technical consulting services for the upstream oil and gas industry worldwide.

As the founder of AdvEn Inc. and co-inventor of the core ASAC and ESAC technologies, Dr. Weixing Chen provides technical leadership in material innovation and process optimization. His role is to steer the team to ensure that ASAC technology and products are positioned to transform the activated carbon industry. An expert on material degradation for oil and gas, as well as petrochemical infrastructure, Weixing is a respected professional in those industries. He brings more than 25 years of experience in material engineering research and development to his role at AdvEn and has been at the forefront of several industrial innovations. He is a tenured professor with the University of Alberta, has published more than 200 technical papers and co-authored two books, and has given more than 100 technical keynote talks and presentations. Weixing holds a Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Manitoba and an M.S. and B.S. in physical metallurgy from the Dalian University of Technology in China.

Jos is a professional with over 13 years of expertise in Supply Chain Management, Strategic Sourcing, Product Development, and Business Development. His proficiency extends to global networking, business development, and supply chain management, further reinforced by his technical mastery of Activated Carbon. His comprehensive skill set includes specialization in Activated Carbon (Purification Solutions), Bio-Char, Raw Materials, and Agricultural Sustainability, with practical project experience across Africa, Asia, South America, and Europe. As a consultant for AdvEn over the past years, Jos has gained an in-depth understanding of our company, and has made significant contributions to AdvEn’s business development efforts.
Ingo brings deep expertise a C Suite Executive to many global public and private companies. In addition to his C-Suite experience, Ingo has acted in a strategic advisory capacity for companies, senior executives and principals around the world and across a broad crosssection of industries, including with multinational and international investment banks. Some of Ingo’s strategic advisory work has been with companies such as Daewoo Ship Building and Marine Engineering Co. Ltd., BAO Minerals (BAO STEEL Group) and Petro China. He has also worked with Hard Rock Hotel and Casinos, Donaco Pte Ltd. (Genting Group of Companies) and Minera Santa Fe. He brings a drive and dedication to his companies and clients as a true leader, building teams and leveraging relationships to achieve results.
