Electrode Super Adhesive Coating (“ESAC”) successfully tested on equipment from commercial vendors

Edmonton — May 3, 2021 — AdvEn Technologies Inc. (“AdvEn”) announced the results from its first commercial-scale tests of its proprietary dry electrode super adhesive coating (“ESAC”). ESAC has been developed for use in super capacitors and batteries offering an increased number of charge cycles, tensile strength and durability when compared to competing products. Tests were completed by equipment manufacturers on industry-standard processing equipment on samples of ESAC closely monitored by AdvEn’s research team.

“This is a major milestone for our ESAC research team,” said Dr. Weixing Chen, Chief Technology Officer. “This is the first step toward commercialization of our technology and demonstrates the scalability of our dry electrode coating methodology that is flexible and strong.”

ESAC is based on an international patent filed in 2017 for the production of conductive-flake strengthened, polymer stabilized electrode technology with high tensile strength and low electrical resistance. The dry electrode process has several advantages to conventional slurry manufacturing including significantly fewer manufacturing steps resulting in the need for less production equipment and lower operating costs. The process operates at a lower temperature and doesn’t require hazardous chemicals or additives used on slurry processes.

About Us

AdvEn Inc. (formerly Nano Innovations Inc.), through its wholly owned subsidiary AdvEn Industries Inc., develops and commercializes carbon-centric advanced technologies converting petroleum refinery residues into non-combustible products for energy and environmental applications. AdvEn’s 36,000 ft2 manufacturing plant and research facility in Nisku, Alberta, Canada will initially produce up to 400 metric tons per year of advanced super activated carbon (“ASAC”) before scaling to 1,200 metric tons per year; and is also piloting the Company’s patented dry electrode super adhesive coatings (“ESAC”) process. Both ASAC and ESAC provide superior technical performance, reduced GHG emission and energy consumption with excellent cost efficiency.

AdvEn, ASAC and ESAC are trademarks of AdvEn in Canada and the United States.
